Project Description
Cornerstone at Simpson House
Repositioning Phasing New Apartments Tight Site
Cornerstone is the second phase of a master plan to reimagine and reposition the Simpson House Senior Campus. A new apartment building replaced an outdated building located between two existing buildings on a constrained site. All utilities and services, including meal service, ran through the building location. In a carefully orchestrated phasing strategy, the entire facility remained fully operational as the utilities and services were disconnected and re-routed prior to demolition and while the new building was constructed. Significant portions of the adjacent buildings were renovated as well. Thirty-seven light-filled apartments featuring two-bedrooms and two-bedrooms with den and balconies were included in the new building, along with a new bistro, terrace dining, a pub, auditorium, theater, salon, and fitness center. The lobby became the new main entrance to the entire community.
