Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack

50 Year Relationship Repositioning Indoor-Outdoor Connections Amenity Spaces

Engagements for Wesley Enhanced Living date back to 1968, marking the community as the oldest continuing client.  Current project is a major transformation, repositioning the community in its market to maintain viability for years to come. A master plan called for extending the facility’s wooded setting around the entire complex, introducing walking trails and reinforcing the central garden court as the heart of the community.  The exterior façade was rejuvenated by adding a dramatic new entrance portico and water feature to highlight the entry and welcome visitors.

The interior of the building has been transformed and re-organized.  The Health Center has been re-configured to operate as a households, with resident rooms organized around smaller, residential-style living and dining rooms.  The Rehabilitation Center was doubled in size.  Apartments have been combined and enlarged, adding more amenities to each.

The common spaces have been renovated to provide much needed amenities such as a large fitness center, a new dining room, a bistro space with both indoor and outdoor seating, a library, a bank and a convenience store.  Another important feature is the new James E. Tallman Meditation Chapel, which emphasizes the community’s commitment to the spiritual values of its residents. Working closely with residents and staff, an intimate space was created to support these activities with special lighting, furniture, appropriate finishes, and design details. The focal point of the chapel is a piece of original artwork commissioned for the space.
